Wyclef Jean will follow up his new single "Hendrix" with an EP titled  J'ouvert , a new five-song collection that serves as an appetizer for his upcoming album. J'ouvert , out September 30th, takes its name from the official start of Carnival in the eastern Caribbean. Hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean was at Venu nightclub Monday night checking out local music producers competing in the Remy Producers Series. Jean was one of a panel of judges that included Rebekah Espinosa of Sony Records, Vashon Straws of Universal Records, Theo Brown of Atlantic Records, and DJ Pup Dawgof Jam’n 94.5. Basically, I’ve always thought Wyclef was the man—smooth, cool, musically interesting—so when I had the chance to interview him at the recent opening of New York’s Renaissance Hotel Midtown it was a no-brainer.
